Pat Shafer is a Los Angeles-based composer and filmmaker who approaches scoring through a distinct directorial lens. One of the four composers selected for the prestigious ColorCreative Find Your People Program 2025 cohort, he has quickly established himself as a vital new voice in the industry. Transitioning from the director’s chair to the recording studio, Pat exercises a unique sonic palette that prioritizes narrative truth and character subtext, treating every score as a bridge between the screen and the viewer’s visceral reality.

Pat is known for texture-heavy soundscapes that utilize unconventional orchestration and found sounds. His creative process is informed by his studies in Florida State University's graduate film program, and his experience across film departments, allowing him to translate visual cues like wardrobe and blocking into evocative musical themes.

 

As a transgender man from a non-traditional music background in sunny South Florida, Pat is a community-minded leader dedicated to fostering a more inclusive industry. Beyond his technical craft, he aims to create sustainable pathways for underrepresented voices, ensuring that diverse perspectives have a seat at the table.
